Earthquake proof table

Probably for the first time here on cool future gadgets we have here gadget that has potential to safe many lives and lives that are most valuable for us humans, lives of kids.
Technology is really amazing thing and sometimes it has such amazing results that it leaves us almost breathless. This video shows such technology. This video in fact does not show any crazy super hitech technology full of future stuff, but just good work of designers. It is really amazing, but as you can see in this video, well constructed table can survive weight of 1 ton... in movement!
This table has been designed for places where are problems with earthquakes and where are also school buildings created from cheap materials. I'm sure that you have seen in past those sad news how pupils died in these bad built schools because of earthquake.
It is well known fact that in many such areas kids are told to take refuge under their desks. Well, the problem is of course that standard desks are not designed to protect someone under it during earthquake and if the building collapses these desks in fact becomes deadly traps.
Well, this desk is something absolutely different. It has been nominated for London Design Museum's award of design of the year and what is the best part is that it is not just concept, it is already licensed by manufacturer of school furniture so very likely it will see production.
